Insurance

Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

  • Do I have mental health insurance benefits for Registered Psychologists / Registered Clinical Counsellors?
  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
  • What is the coverage amount per person or per family member?
  • Is a referral required from my primary care physician?
  • Please note that the Vancouver Psychology Centre does not bill directly to benefit plans or 3rd party insurance providers. Clients pay fees directly to Vancouver Psychology Centre, receive a receipt, and submit that receipt for reimbursement to their insurance provider

Payment

VISA or MasterCard accepted for payment (we do not accept Amex).

No Recording Policy

All audio or video recording of clinical sessions by clients is unauthorized and any breach of this policy will result in a termination of clinical services immediately. VPC respects your privacy and holds protection of your confidential information to the highest standards possible.

Any unauthorized recording of clinical sessions by clients results in your private information being stored in potentially unsecured servers and could be accessed by third parties in a manner that VPC cannot control.

Additionally, when a client breaches the no recording policy, a rift of the therapeutic alliance and trust is introduced to the therapist-client relationship, which makes consultation and treatment ineffective.

Thank you for your consideration in respecting and following this policy. If you would like to discuss this policy with your clinician or with VPC’s Directors, you are welcome to reach out.

Cancellation Policy

Therapy / Counselling Cancellation Policy:

If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy / counselling appointment, and you have not notified us at least 48 work-day-hours in advance {Monday – Friday}, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session {for example, if you have a 10am appointment on a Monday and wish to cancel, we would need to know by 10am the previous Thursday in order to avoid your being charged for that session}.

Please note: Because we often have a wait list, our helpful staff will endeavour to fill any session that you have cancelled with less than 48 work-day-hours notice with another client, and if they are able to do so, there will be no charge to you. If that appointment cannot be filled, you will be responsible for the full session fees.

Many families use this ‘un-used’ session time to have our psychologists and counsellors consult with physicians, teaching staff, give feedback by phone to parents or other team members, or they can use this time to complete letters, notes to school, employers or otherwise (as is clinically relevant).

Assessment Cancellation Policy:

The $300 assessment booking fee is non-refundable.

Without a 14-days notice to cancel or re-schedule an assessment, the fees for the clinician’s in-person time will be billed to your credit card ($2,160 for Psychoeducational & Vocational assessments and $432 for Psychodiagnostic and Career assessments).

Your VPC clinical team member has specifically made themselves available for you during your appointment time. Thank you for respecting your clinician’s expertise and clinical time availability.

Emergency Response

Our clinic provides day-time ‘elective’ care – this means that we don’t have the resources to provide care outside of clinic hours on weekends or evenings. If an emergency issue arises, we recommend seeking care from your Family Physician, Emergency Department, or that you call 9-1-1 or your local crisis line. In our area:

  • Local Crisis Centre Lines anywhere in B.C.: 310-6789
  • Canada Wide Kids Help Phone (5-20 years): 1-800-668-6868
  • Vancouver Youth Crisis Line: 604-872-3311
  • Vancouver Seniors Distress Line: 604-872-1234
