Telehealth

Telehealth and Virtual
Counselling Across BC

Therapy by secure video has been part of our practice for years, not an afterthought. Wherever you are in British Columbia, you can meet with a VPC clinician from your own space, with evening and weekend appointments often available.

How telehealth at VPC works

Sessions take place over secure, PIPEDA-compliant video. There is no software to buy: you need a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. Before your first appointment, our team sends you a link and simple instructions, and we can troubleshoot with you if anything is unclear. The session itself runs like an in-person appointment: same length, same clinician, same standards of confidentiality.

Is telehealth right for you

For many people, video sessions work well. Individual therapy for anxiety, low mood, stress, and life transitions translates naturally to video, and many clients find it easier to open up from their own home. Telehealth also removes the commute, which matters if you live outside Vancouver, have a packed schedule, or have mobility or health considerations.

It is not the right fit for everything. Some situations are better served in person, for example certain kinds of work with young children, parts of psychological assessment that require in-person standardized testing, and circumstances where privacy at home is hard to come by. If you are in acute crisis, telehealth is not the right channel: VPC is not an emergency or crisis service. In a crisis, call or text 988, call 911, or call the BC Crisis Line at 1-800-784-2433.

If you are unsure which format suits your situation, our intake team will give you an honest read rather than a sales pitch.

Availability

Evening and weekend appointments are often available by telehealth, which makes it possible to fit therapy around work, school pickup, or shift schedules. Availability varies by clinician, so ask our intake team what is open when you call.

Who practises by telehealth

Dr. Carla Fry, co-founder of VPC, and Angela Herd practise fully by telehealth. Many of our other clinicians offer a mix of in-person sessions at our Mount Pleasant office and video sessions, so you can switch formats as life requires.

Fees and receipts

Telehealth fees are identical to in-person fees: $240 to $350 per session with a Licensed Psychologist, and $190 to $240 with a Registered Clinical Counsellor or Registered Social Worker. We accept VISA and MasterCard (not Amex). VPC does not direct-bill insurance; we issue receipts you can submit to your extended health plan. Therapy sessions require 48 business hours' notice to cancel.
